Colby women's soccer defeats Husson, 4-0
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Laura Williamson (Manchester, Conn.) moved into
second place on Colby College's all-time scoring list and teammate Libba
Cox (Guilford, Conn.) had a goal and an assist to lift the Mules to a 4-0
non-conference win over Husson College in women's soccer Thursday.
Williamson, a junior, scored just 4:39 into the game for her fourth
game-winning goal of the season. She has eight goals and three assists for
19 points this season and has 32 goals and 11 assists for 75 career points.
Williamson passed Kim Waldron '99, who had 29 goals and 16 assists for 74
points. Christine O'Donnell '03 is Colby's all-time leading scorer with 43
goals and nine assists for 95 points.
Cox, who assisted on Williamson's goal, tallied at 15:53 of the first half
for a 2-0 lead. The sister act of Kara McCabe (Watertown, Conn.) and Katie
McCabe (Watertown, Conn.) had assists on the play.
Colby (6-2-3) went up 3-0 at intermission when Meg Cordner (Katonah, N.Y.)
scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Amanda Comeau
(Southbury, Conn.).
The Mules closed out the scoring when Jessica Lueders-Dumont scored her
first collegiate goal with 4:23 left in the game.
Liza Benson (Orchid, Fla.), the ECAC New England and NESCAC Player of the
Week for last week, played 83 minutes and made two saves. Rachel Freierman
(Cambridge, Mass.) played the final seven minutes in goal for the Mules.
Husson (7-7-2) goalkeepers Tatyana Wolterbeek (Wells, Maine) and Leah Drew
(Caribou, Maine) combined for 12 saves.
