Colby settles for 2-2 tie with Wesleyan
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. --- Libba Cox scored both goals for the Colby College women’s soccer team in settling for a 2-2 tie with Wesleyan University in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
The Mules (4-1-2, 2-1-2 NESCAC) had a 29-10 advantage in shots and opened up a 2-0 lead when Cox scored about 10 minutes into the second half.
Wesleyan (1-5-2, 0-3-2) fought back and scored about five minutes later on a goal by Sarah Hopkins. Colby had an own goal with 22 minutes left in regulation to give the Cardinals a 2-2 tie.
Colby had a 9-1 advantage in shots during the overtime periods.
Liza Benson was credited with eight saves for Colby, which plays at Williams College on Sunday at 11 a.m. Andrea Giuliano finished with 17 stops for Wesleyan.
