Williams edges Colby in women's soccer
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Colby College women’s soccer team had a time change and a surface change for Sunday’s game with Williams College.
Playing an hour earlier and on artificial turf, Williams took a 1-0 victory over Colby. The Mules had taken a 1-0 win over Williams last year for their first-ever victory over the Ephs.
With the heavy rains in New England this weekend, Williams had its regular field heavily flooded. So the Mules played an hour earlier at 10 a.m. because field hockey and men’s soccer would also have to be played on the turf field.
Clare Gallagher had the lone goal for the Ephs (8-1, 5-1 NESCAC) with about 30 minutes left when she slammed home a rebound off a save by Colby goalkeeper Liza Benson.
Benson stopped six shots for Colby (4-2-2, 2-2-2). Sarah Ginsburg also made six saves for Williams.
