Colby women's soccer blanks Trinity, 5-0
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Katie McCabe (Taft School/Watertown, Conn.) and Laura
Williamson (Kingswood-Oxford/Manchester, Conn.) both had one goal and one
assist to pace the Colby College women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over
Trinity College in New England Small College Athletic Conference action
Saturday.
Colby improves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the NESCAC, while Trinity falls to
3-2 and 1-2.
The Mules only led 1-0 at halftime when McCabe scored off a pass from
Williamson just 9:56 into the game.
Williamson put the Mules up 2-0 about seven minutes into the half off an
assist from Liz Morbeck (Lakeside School/Seattle, Wash.).
The McCabe sisters connected on Colby's third goal. Kara McCabe (Taft
School/Watertown, Conn.) scored off an assist from her younger sister with
about 21 minutes left in the game for a 3-0 lead.
Colby scored just one minute later on a tally by Lauren Goethals (Pomfret
School/Needham, Mass.). Amanda Comeau (Gunnery/Southbury, Conn.) had the
other goal for the winners.
Liza Benson (Lawrence Academy/Orchid, Fla.) made six saves for the Colby
shutout. Tara Finucane (Branford, Conn.) was credited with 10 stops for
Trinity.
