Colby women's tennis has mixed weekend
AMHERST, Mass. -- The Colby College women's tennis team competed at the New
England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament on Friday.
After a first round bye, first singles player Tracy Nale fell 6-0, 6-1 to
top-seeded Amy Roche of Middlebury. Nale and first doubles partner Ginny
Raho took a 9-7 win against a team from Smith in the opening round, but
then lost a tough 9-7 match to a Tufts pair in the second round.
In the second singles flight, Lauren Uhlmann cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win
against Mount Holyoke's Aleksandra Mihalovic in the first round. Uhlmann
then lost 6-1, 6-3 to Jen Schwartzkopf of Wellesley in the next round.
Anna Erdheim, Raho, Anna Jazstrab and Nicole Veilleux each lost their
opening singles matches. Colby's second and third doubles teams also lost
their opening matches.
