Colby women's tennis defeats Bates, 5-4

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Nicole Veilleux (Chocorua, N.H.) was the only Colby College women's tennis player to go 2-0 as the Mules took a 5-4 victory over Bates College on Tuesday night.

Veilleux won 7-5, 6-0 over Liz Fleming (Weston, Conn.) at sixth singles and then joined forces with Anna Erdheim (New York, N.Y.) for a key 9-7 win over Fleming and Mallika Raghavan (Chappaqua, N.Y.) at third doubles.

Colby's Allison Dunn (Tucson, Ariz.) won at first singles with an easy 6-2, 6-0 win against Cecilia Grissa (Doylestown, Pa.), while Tracy Nale (Waterville, Maine) cruised at the second spot with a 6-0, 6-4 victory. Colby tri-captain Lauren Uhlmann (Mission Hills, Kan.) won at fifth singles for the Mules.
