Nale wins opening matches at ITA tourney
BRUNSWICK, Maine --- Tracy Nale (Waterville, Maine) won her opening matches in singles and doubles play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association New England Regional Tournament this past weekend at Bowdoin College.
Nale took a 6-1, 6-0 win over Trinity College's Syd Meckler to advance to round of 32 singles play. After falling 6-3 in the opening set to Megan Gentzler of Tufts University, Nale won the second set by an easy 6-0 score. Gentzler, though, advanced to the next round by winning a close 10-8 pro set.
Nale joined forces with Ginny Raho (Providence, R.I.) to win 8-4 in the round of 32 doubles match against a team from Brandeis. The Colby team fell 8-1 to a squad from MIT in the next round.
Anna Erdheim (New York, N.Y.) and Lauren Uhlmann (Mission Hills, Kansas) each lost in their opening singles matches. The pair also fell in their opening doubles match.
