Tufts field hockey tops Colby in season opener

MEDFORD, Mass. --- Despite an early goal by Colby College, Tufts University settled down and took a 4-1 victory in New England Small College Athletic Conference field hockey Saturday.

The Mules dominated the opening minutes of the game and got on the scoreboard when Mary Clare Snediker tallied just 1:32 into the contest.

Tufts, though, scored at 9:13 to tie the game from Marlee Kutcher and then went ahead for good at 29:18 on a goal by Michelle Kelly. The Jumbos received second half goals from Brittany Holiday and Kutcher to pull away.

Jamie Enos made 10 saves in goal for Colby, while Marilyn Duffy-Cabana stopped three shots for the Jumbos.
