Bowdoin men's soccer takes win over Colby
WATERVILLE, Maine ---- Luke Welch (Auburn, Maine) scored off a header in the opening half for what proved to be the game-winning goal as Bowdoin College took a 2-0 win over Colby College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference men's soccer game Saturday.
Will Grueber (Hamburg, Germany) had the cross from the left side and Welch had a running header for the goal in the 27th minute.
The Polar Bears (2-0, 2-0 NESCAC) got their second goal from Nick Figueiredo (Wilmington, Mass.) in the 72nd minute.
Nathan Lovitz (Fairfield, Maine) stopped four shots for the Bowdoin shutout.
Josh Kahane (Newton, Mass.) made one save for Colby (0-1-2, 0-1-1), which had a 12-11 shot advantage.
