Sodoma is responsible for publicity and media communications for Colby’s 32 varsity sports which includes more than 600 student athletes. In addition, he coordinates the hiring of assistant coaches, serves on search committees and provides for statistical management at events. This will be his 18th year working in the field of Sports Information.
Prior to Colby, Sodoma was the Director of Sports Information at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y. He managed a department that had 24 sports, including two NCAA Division I programs. Sodoma was also previously employed as a Sports Writer and was promoted to the Sports Editor at the Oneonta Daily Star newspaper prior to entering the field of College Athletic Management.
Sodoma has a Master’s degree in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Ohio University. He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Eastern College Atheltic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA).
Sodoma hires Colby student workers to assist in the Sports Information Department. Cliff White ’07J won the Warren J. Finegan Award for significant behind the scenes contributions to the success of Colby athletics at the 2006 senior awards ceremony. Alexa Lindauer ’07 worked with the department for three years and was the Sports Editor of Colby’s student newspaper. Dustin Satloff ’15 was another Finegan Award winner at the 2015 senior awards ceremony and has taken most of the action photos on the Colby athletics site.
Sodoma lives in Sidney, Maine, with his wife and their four children.
