 Game Recap:

Strong Pitching Leads Trinity To Victory In Series Opener
Colby vs Trinity College
April 12, 2002
Waterville, ME

Waterville, Maine- The Trinity College Bantams (16-4), powered by a dominating pitching performance from Jonah Bayliss '03 (Williamstown, Mass.), topped the Colby College White Mules (6-7) 5-2 at Coombs Field. Bayliss held the Colby offense scoreless for the first eight innings, and pitched the complete game for the win, allowing 6 hits with 10 strikeouts. The Mules were able to stay in a 1-0 game until the eighth inning due to the pitching of Brandon Royce '04 (Augusta, Maine). Royce held the Trinity line-up to one run and three hits for the first seven innings before the Bantam bats picked up four runs in the eighth. Trinity was led by Kurt Piantek '03 (Wallingford, Conn.) who blasted a solo homerun to left field in the seventh and singled in a run in the eighth.  Jayme Dorr '03 (Osterville, Mass.) also came through in the eighth with a two run double. Colby picked up two runs in the ninth inning via an Eric Roy '04 (Lisbon Falls, Maine) sacrifice fly and Jared Cushman '05 (Augusta, Maine) RBI single.  Joseph Johnson '03 (Norwood, Mass.) had two hits for the Mules. Both teams square off in a doubleheader tomorrow at 12 Noon.
