The Mules return a majority of the starting lineup from a year ago along with a mature pitching staff. A number of underclassmen saw significant playing time last season as the team was rebuilding. Co-captain Eric Roy 04, a First Team NESCAC All-Conference selection, is the top returning player after leading the team with a .380 batting average and playing error free behind the plate. Other top returnees include infielders Vince Domestico 04 (co-captain), B.L. Lippert 04, and Rodney Ames 06. The pitching staff returns Phil Geiger 04, Andrew Jenkins 06, Rob Jacobs 06, and John Michael Beitia 06 and Tyler Hales 06. A strong class of prospects and a solid core of returnees give promise for a strong 2004 campaign.
Program Overview
Established in 1867, the Colby baseball program is one of the Colleges oldest varsity programs. Jack Coombs, a member of the Class of 1906, was Colbys first major league player and went on to a fine career with the Boston Red Sox. Coombs Field was completely renovated in 2001 and is one of the finest playing surfaces in New England. Current team members enjoy the rich tradition of Colby baseball and run two youth baseball clinics annually and participate in other community service projects.
