Colby Men's Hoops Shocks 13th Ranked Conn. College 64-61 Waterville , ME. Senior Kirk Allen (Bangor, ME.) came off the bench to spark the Colby men's basketball team to a thrilling 64-61 win over the 13th ranked Division III team in the country, Connecticut College here in Wadsworth gym. Allen scored a career high 16 points to lead the White Mules as he went 5-9 from the floor with three clutch 3 point field goals down the stretch. Sam Clark played another tremendous all around game as the Senior from Bath, ME. scored 13 points pulled down 13 rebounds and dished out a team high 5 assists. Colby took a 38-28 lead into the break only to see Conn. College come storming out of the gates to start the second half and go on a 22-11 run behind the shooting of all-american candidate Kareem Tatum who scored a game high 20 points. The White Mules continued to fight and scrap their way back into the game playing trademark Dick Whitmore Colby Basketball and took the lead on a 3point basket by Allen with 3 minutes to go. The Camels cut the lead to two on a 3 point bomb by Tatum with under a minute to play but Colby held on making some key foul shots and playing relentless defense, with the win the White Mules improve to 10-5 and more importantly start off the NESCAC conference play 1-0 while the Camels drop to 11-3 and 0-1 in the conference.
