Colby Men's Hoops Cap off a perfect NESCAC Opening Weekend. Waterville, ME. The Colby men's Basketball team shot a blistering 68% from the floor in the first half and took a 39-23 lead into halftime only to see their lead slip away in the second half, but dug in and held on for a 66-63 conference win over Wesleyan here at Wadsworth Gym. Seniors Zeb Davis and Sam Clark each logged 37 plus minutes and carried the White Mules to their 11th win on the year and a 2-0 start in NESCAC play. Davis knocked down 6-11 three point FG's, two crucial ones in the second half to help hold off a strong run by Wesleyan and finished the game with 22 points. Clark had yet another dominating performance as the game featured the two best players in the conference in Clark and Wesleyan's Leo Jones. The Colby SR. Captain also finished the game with 22 points going 8-12 from the floor and hauled down 7 rebounds. Jones led all Wesleyan scorers with 19 points two below his season average and grabbed a game high 12 rebounds. Wesleyan's Chris Bray and Chad Gordon also reached double digits for the Cardinals scoring 14 and 11 points respectively. Colby received strong defensive performances from David Forsyth, Jake Civiello and Kirk Allen as the Mules held two strong offensive teams (Conn. College & Wesleyan), both averaging over 80 points a game to less than 65 this weekend. The Mules now take to the road for two straight weekends of tough conference play before returning back home on Saturday Feb. 10th as the take on conference and in state rival Bowdoin at 3pm. 2001 Colby Men's BasketballWesleyan at Colby - 1/20
