Amherst to tough for Colby WATERVILLE, ME. The Colby White Mules could simply not match up with Amherst as the Lord Jeffs played suffocating defense limiting Colby to only 48 shots on the afternoon on their way to a convincing 66-49 win. The Lord Jeffs were led by Stephen Zieja with 18 points and Brian Daoust who penetrated the Colby defense for 15. Pat Fitzsimons posted a double double for the Lord Jeffs scoring 10 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Colby was led by Damien Strahorn who knocked down four 3 pointers on his way to a team high 16 points, Sam Clark had 11 points at the half but Amherst shut down the Colby leader limiting him to 1 point in the second. Colby never got on track as they shot only 33% from the floor while Amherst got out to a 16 point lead early and never trailed the rest of the afternoon. Both Colby and Amherst will advance to the NESCAC tournament and host games on Tuesday night, vs who is yet to be determined.
