GAME RECAP
Colby vs Husson
November 17, 2001
Waterville, ME
Colby College Women's Basketball rode strong performances from Kate Chuprevich Cumberland, Maine) and Wendy Bonner (Lexington, Mass.) to notch their first win of the season 60-54. Chuprevich was the dominant force in the game with 26 points and 8 rebounds and the freshman Bonner has her second strong performance in a row with 13 points and 7 rebounds. The last few minutes were back and forth, but with solid defense and good inside offensive play the Mules were able to pull it out. Within the last five minutes the Mules took control when Katy Lawson (Mount Desert, Maine) drove the lane and split two defenders for a lay-up that put the Mules ahead by eight. On the next Colby possession Bonner pulled down a long rebound from a three point attempt as she was fouled made the put-back and free throw for a three point play. A big three pointer by Leslie Trott (Surry, Maine) cut into the Colby lead for Husson, and they tried to press the Mules to tighten the score. The Mules were ready though as they used good ball movement to break the press and Bonner attacked the basket with a dribble drive from half court for a layup and put Colby into a comfort zone, as O'Donnell hit one of two free throw to finish the score at 60-54. Trott led the way for Husson with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Liz Boone (Brewer, Maine) also was strong with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Colby next plays Thomas College at home at 7:30 PM at Wadsworth Gymnasium in Waterville.
