FACILITIES:

The Boathouse, located at the Colby-Hume Center, is only six miles from campus. It is on a 10-acre parcel of land with 450 feet of frontage on Lake Messalonskee. The property was given to Colby in 1991 by Dr. Alan and Dorothy Hume, who maintain a residence there. The center may be used by students, faculty and staff members for cookouts, swimming, horse-shoes, canoeing and various other activities. Since 1986, The boathouse at the Colby-Hume Center has been used by the Crew to house their rowing shells. A third bay was added in 1997 to accommodate for the growth of the team and their equipment.

Our indoor facilities include 5,300 square foot Fitness Center which offers free weights, state of the art weight machines and over 25 pieces of cardiovascular equipment. The ergometer room is located directly above the fitness center, which offers a convenient and time efficient transition between the ergs and weights. The erg room is equipped with numerous Concept II Rowing machines, Concept II Slides and further weight equipment. A spacious aerobic and fitness studio lies adjacent to the erg room and is used for various crew related activities. The campers will have access to all of this.
