Jim Wescott enters his 22nd season of coaching cross country at Colby. A graduate of Plymouth State College (B.S.) and Indiana University (M.S.), the New Hampshire native was the head coach of cross country and track and field at North Carolina State University for nine years prior to coming to Mayflower Hill in 1978.

A sabbatical leave of coaching in New Zealand during the 1996-97 academic year confirmed WescottÕs belief that keeping fun in sports is essential for success. Colby's harriers take an annual trip to Acadia National Park (Bar Harbor, Maine) for a run over Mr. RockellerÕs carriage trails, in addition to frequent excursions to the nearby Belgrade Lakes for equally stimulating runs. The Kennebec county mountain bike trails coupled with our Campbell trails and the 20 miles of trails at nearby Hinckley School ensure the Colby harriers of many pleasurable runs over soft surfaces. For a great break in the quality days of running, the harriers relish a friendly game of waterpolo.
