Jim Wescott
Head Coach

Jim Wescott enters his 25th season coaching cross-country at Colby. A graduate of Plymouth State College (B.S.) and Indiana University (M.S.), the New Hampshire native was the head coach of cross-country and track and field at North Carolina State University for nine years prior to coming to Mayflower Hill in 1978.

A sabbatical year of coaching in New Zealand in 1996-97 confirmed Wescott's belief that keeping fun in sports is essential for success. For a break during the quality days of running, the harriers relish a friendly game of water polo. Over the summers Wescott enjoys developing and maintaining Colby's on-campus network of running trails. Wescott was named the 1990 New England Division III Cross-Country Coach of the Year when his team captured the NCAA Region I title. Wescott also directs the Colby Cross-Country Camp, now in its 19th year, for high school students every July, and he is head coach of Colby's winter and spring track and field teams.
