Jim Wescott enters his 22nd season of coaching cross country at Colby. A graduate of Plymouth State College, NH (BS) and Indiana University (MS), the New Hampshire native was the head coach of cross country and track and field at North Carolina State University for nine years prior to coming to Mayflower Hill in 1978.

A sabbatical leave of coaching in New Zealand during the 1996-97 academic year confirmed Wescott's belief that keeping fun in sports is essential for success. Colby's harriers take an annual trip to Acadia National Park (Bar Harbor, ME) for a run over Mr. Rockefeller's carriage trails, in addition to frequent excursions to the nearby Belgrade Lakes for equally stimulating runs. For a great break in the quality days of training, the harriers relish a friendly game of waterpolo.
