2001 Season Recap
The 2001 Colby White Mules posted an 8-7 record to secure their first-ever playoff appearance in the NESCAC tournament. They also garnered some impressive post-season awards while establishing seven new school records.
The Mules raced to an impressive 5-0 record defeating Amherst, Wesleyan, Farmington, Tufts, and St. Joseph's. Colby then dropped two disappointing games to Connecticut College and Plymouth State. The Mules then defeated eventual NESCAC champion Williams 2-1 while dropping overtime thrillers against Middlebury (2-1) and Trinity (3-2). The quest for the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin title went into the last week of regular season play, as Colby downed Bates 3-2, but was defeated by Bowdoin 3-1 to end the season.
In the NESCAC tournament Colby, seeded fifth, met second seed Amherst who exacted revenge for an opening season loss by defeating Colby 2-1.
