The field hockey team finished 10-5 and made the NESCAC Tournament for the second straight year behind the scoring of All-American sophomore Wendy Bonner (Lexington, Mass.) and a stingy defense led by sophomore sweeper Kristin Putnam (Sidney, Maine) and senior goaltender Carrie Morin (Augusta, Maine).

Bonner, a National Field Hockey Coaches Association Third Team All-American, tied a school record with 12 goals in a single season. She finished with 12 goals and two assists for 26 points and was among the leaders in NESCAC in points per game and goals per game. Bonner, who has 19 goals and five assists in two seasons, was also a NESCAC First Team selection and a NFHCA Regional All-American selection.

Morin played collegiate field hockey for the first time and allowed just 15 goals in 15 games to post a 0.95 goals against average and six shutouts. She played every minute in the nets for Colby. Both Morin and Bonner earned honor roll status for player of the week honors for womensfieldhockey.com

Putnam had eight defensive saves in front of Morin this season. Senior captain Jenn Brenneman (Denver, Colo.) had four defensive saves, while defenders Lauren Smith (Cohasset, Mass.) and Melissa Mullen (Green Township, N.J.) also played key roles. Mullen was named to the NESCAC All-Academic Team.

Senior captain Lyndsay Peters (Freeport, Maine) was second on the team in scoring with two goals and a team-high five assists for nine points. The Mules lose Peters, Brenneman, Morin and Shelley Hughes (Princeton, N.J.) to graduation. Peters finished her career with eight goals and 17 assists for 33 points.

The Mules won their final five regular season games before losing in overtime in the NESCAC quarterfinals. Two highlights of the season came in a 4-0 victory over Bowdoin College, the regular season NESCAC champs, and a 3-2 penalty stroke victory at Tufts University that helped Colby secure a bid in the NESCAC Tournament.
