LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College junior Ryan Jarvis' (Boxford, Mass.) 37-yard scoring run in the third quarter was the only touchdown of the second half as the Bobcats won at home for the first time since 1995, 13-7 over Colby.

The White Mules scored on their first possession of the game on an eight-yard run by fullback Don Gage (Clearwater, Fla./Berkeley Pre.). Bates scored in the second quarter on a 25-yard field goal by sophomore Rejean Guerriero (Spofford, N.H.), his third of the season.

The Bobcats needed just three plays on the first drive of the second half to take their latest lead of the season, as Jarvis had a 15-yard run to go with the 37-yard score.

Colby got in to Bates territory on the next four possessions, including a seven-play drive which reached the Bobcats' 26-yard line, but junior defensive back Jason Silva (Methuen, Mass.) made his first career interception to halt the White Mule drive. Guerriero added his second field goal of the game from 28 yards out with 9:13 remaining to add some insurance.

Colby got as far as its own 49-yard line with 2:12 left in the game, but on fourth-down-and-six, senior quarterback Nathan Bradley's (Norridgewock, Me./Skowhegan) pass slipped through the hands of an outstretched Miguel Gonzalez (Oxford, Me./Oxford Hills) at the Bates 10-yard line. The White Mules got the ball back deep in their own end with nine seconds left, but Bradley's passes fell incomplete as the Bobcats sealed the victory.

Thomas Keblin (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Regional) carried the ball 16 times for Colby, racking up 57 yards to lead the White Mule ground attack. Andrew Tripp (Saco, Me./Thornton Academy) caught five passes for 48 yards receiving.

Bates will travel to Bowdoin next week for for the second leg of the CBB championship, while Colby makes the trip to Medford, Massachusetts to face the Jumbos of Tufts University.
