Portland, Maine The University of New England played host to the 2000 Maine Intercollegiate Golf Championships held at Riverside Golf Course on Friday. Husson College took first in the thirteen team tournament with a total of 312 strokes. Colby tied Bowdoin for second place with 315 strokes a piece. Colby was led by Andre Picher (01, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) who shot a 76, while also earning a four-way tie for fourth place in the individual standings. The University of Maine - Farmington's Sam Marzenell won the individual title with a score of 71. Rounding out the top five for Colby were Justin Ucko (02, Short Hills, NJ) with a 78, Greg Dupuy (04, Allendale, NJ) with a 79, Scott Bixby (01, La Jolla, Ca) with an 82, and Matt Simard (02, Auburn, Me) with an 85. The White Mules will travel to Middlebury on Saturday and Sunday, September 30 and October 1, to compete in the New Engaland Small College Athletic Conference Tournament. Team Scores: 1.
