
Colby Women's Ice Hockey 2003-2004 Season Recap
The women's hockey team just missed out on making the NESCAC tourney after getting off to a slow start to the season. The Mules finished 4-18-1 overall while playing a difficult schedule and had a 4-11-1 record in the conference.
Senior Kate Sweeney led the team in scoring with nine goals and nine assists for 18 points. Sweeney finished off a fine career at Colby with 36 goals and 39 assists for 75 points in 91 career games.
Junior forward Michele Barmash was a bright spot with nine goals and eight assists for 17 points. Junior forward Heather DeVito missed some games early in the season due to illness, but still finished with 12 goals and three assists for 15 points.
Colby Women's Ice Hockey 2003-2004 Season Preview
The Colby women's ice hockey team is looking to keep its standing after finishing as one of the top four teams in the NESCAC for the second straight season. The Mules aim to return to post-season play, having made the conference semifinals the past two seasons.
Veteran blue-liners Christina Dotchin '04, Meghan Barringer '05, Kristin Putnam '05, Caitlin Leahy '06, and Anna Morro '06 will provide leadership and stability in the defensive zone. Returning goaltenders Lynn Hasday '05 and Sarah Webster '05 will provide talent and consistency while backstopping for the Mules. Colby has one of the top scorers in the conference in Heather DeVito '05, who has 29 goals and 31 assists for 60 career points in just two seasons. Kate Sweeney '04, a NESCAC Second Team All-Conference selection along with DeVito, could play on defense or at forward. Michele Barmash '05 showed scoring promise last year in her second season and was third for Colby in points.
