Mules keep rolling all the way to NESCAC Championship Game

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Colby advanced to the NESCAC Championship by
defeating Bowdoin 10-7 this afternoon. The White Mules will take on
Middlebury tomorrow at 12:00 at Youngman Field.
Ryan Kane gave Colby an early 1-0 lead but Bowdoin answered quickly
on a goal by Simon McKay to knot the game at one. The Polar Bears found the
back of the net two more times in the first quarter to take a 3-1 lead. Josh
Cleaver scored with 27 seconds remaining in the quarter to bring the White
Mules within one. Five different Colby players scored in the second quarter
to give the White Mules a 7-4 half-time lead. In the third quarter, the
White Mules tallied two more, while Bowdoin was unable to score. The Polar
Bears scored three consecutive goals in the fourth quarter to come within
two but Cleaver tallied his second goal of the game to seal the 10-7 win.
Kane, Cleaver, Chris Larson and Bill Spencer each scored two goals apiece
for Colby. McKay netted three goals for Bowdoin, while Teddy Scholhamer
scored two.
In goal, John Shea made 13 saves for the White Mules, while P.J.
Prest made 10 saves for the Polar Bears.
