Heidi Godomsky, Head Coach
Heidi Godomsky begins her ninth season as the head coach of Colby's women's lacrosse. During her tenure at Colby, Godomsky has worked to rebuild the women's lacrosse team. So far she has been successful. The women's lacrosse team has taken five trips to the ECAC tournament in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001, including a trip to the championship game in 2000, and was ranked as high as 12th in the country during the 1998 season. In 2001 the team was ranked fourth in NESCAC and made it to the semifinals of the NESCAC tournament. Godomsky has coached six IWLCA All-Americans, 11 IWLCA Regional All-Americans and countless Academic All-Americans.
Godomsky earned a degree in government in 1991 from The College of William and Mary, where she was a four-year member of the college's NCAA Division I lacrosse program. She played defense wing on teams that captured South Atlantic Conference title in 1988, 1989, and 1991 and earned an NCAA Division I tournament spot in 1988. Godomsky's coaching career began at Trinity College, where she was an assistant field hockey and lacrosse coach. While at Trinity, Godomsky earned a master's degree in history with a focus on the history of women's sports in the United States, Title IX ,and gender-equity. In 1996 the Japanese Lacrosse Association selected her to coach women's lacrosse in Japan. She also played in exhibition games against the Japanese World Cup Team and the Japanese College All-Star team.
