Six Straight Goals In Second Half Lead Colby Over Bowdoin 14-8

The Colby College White Mules (7-3) picked up their sixth consecutive win, powered by a six goal outburst in 10:18 in the second half, over the Bowdoin College Polar Bears (7-3) at Crafts Field. Leading the way for Colby was Ally King '03 (W. Hartford, Conn.) with two goals and three assists, Kate Wheeler '04 (Baltimore, Md.) with four goals, Lauren Gremelspacher '03 (Granby, Conn.) with three goals and an assist and Marcia Ingraham '02 (Georgetown, Mass.) with three goals. The visiting Polar Bears were led by Shoshana Kuriloff '04 (Philadelphia, Pa.) who had two goals and an assist and Sam Hall '04 (Bernardsville, N.J.) with two goals. Anna Schierberl-Scherr '03 (Portsmouth, N.H.) saved 9 shots in the win for Colby, while Julia McCombs '02 (Potomac, Md.) saved eight for the Polar Bears.
Gremelspacher opened the scoring for Colby when she fired a shot from the front of the net for a 1-0 lead. Hall answered for Bowdoin with a shot off the ground to tie the score. The teams would continue to trade goals in the first half, with Wheeler bouncing a shot for a score off a free position and Amanda Epstein '03 (Philadelphia, Pa.) landing a shot for a score in the top left corner for Colby. Kristi Perine '02 (Middlebury, Vt.) was on the attack for Bowdoin, cutting through the middle of the Colby defense, and sniping a shot into the top right corner, barely above Schierberl-Scherr's stick. Libby Bourke '03 (Denver, Colo.) scored for the Polar Bears with a shot off a spin from the left side. The score would be 6-5 Bowdoin at the half, with Colby's final goal coming when Ingraham batted a pass out of midair from Gremelspacher for a score.
The teams would continue to trade goals at the start of the second half, with Kuriloff's second goal at 23:09 tying the score at 7-7. The Mules offense would catch fire though, with King starting things off with the go-ahead goal at 20:26. The Mules then got two goals from Ingraham and one apiece from Wheeler, King, and Gremelspacher to seal the victory.
