Mules advance to Semifinals of NESCAC's with 11-7 victory over Bowdoin

Waterville, Maine- The Colby College White Mules (10-3) topped the Bowdoin College Polar Bears (10-5) in a hard fought, physical contest 11-7 at Crafts Field in the first round of the NESCAC Playoffs. Ally King '03 scored the game-winning goal at with 11:31 remaining in the game and had two goals and assist and Marcia Ingraham '02 scored an insurance goal at 7:13 as well as scoring two goals and an assist on the day. King broke the school record in career assists this weekend, with her seven assists giving her 67 in her career, topping Nicki Furek's '00 previous high of 60. Amanda Epstein '03 utilized her speed all game and came through with three goals for the Mules. Bowdoin was led by Burrage with 3 goals and an assist and Perine who had three goals. Bourke had a goal and an assist as well for the Polar Bears. Bowdoin jumped out to a 3-2 halftime lead via a Perine goal as she took a nice feed from behind the net from Bourke for their first goal and Burrage scored on a free position for their second goal. Colby's goals came from a Katie Trainor '03 nifty move through the Polar Bear defense and Cara Dionisi '04 shot in the bottom right corner of the net after spinning away from two Polar Bear defenders. Bowdoin worked the Perine-Bourke combination again with 14:25 to take a 3-2 lead heading into halftime. Burrage would open the second half with her second unassisted goal to put the score at 4-2. Colby tied things up with Trainor's second goal and an unassisted goal from Lauren Gremelspacher '03. Bowdoin took the lead once again though on Burrage's third goal of the game. Colby would make their move behind two goals from Epstein and two goals from King, with King's second putting the score at 8-7. Ingraham's two goals and Epstein's third would wrap up the victory for the Mules.
