Heidi Godomsky, Head Coach Heidi Godomsky begins her 13th season at the helm of Colby's women's lacrosse team in 2006. During her tenure Godomsky has successfully built the lacrosse team into a nationally recognized program. The team finished the 2005 season ranked 11th in the country and fourth in the NESCAC, and is currently ranked seventh in the U.S. Lacrosse 20006 Division III Preseason Poll. The team reached the NESCAC tournament semifinals in three of the last five years since the conference tournament began. Colby also has taken five trips to the ECAC tournament in 1996 and from 1998 to 2001, including a trip to the championship game in 2000. Godomsky has coached 11 IWLCA All-Americans, 23 IWLCA Regional All-Americans, and countless IWLCA Academic All-Americans. Godomsky earned a government degree in 1991 from The College of William and Mary, where she was a four-year member of the college's NCAA Division I lacrosse program. She played defense wing on teams that captured South Atlantic Conference titles in 1988, 1989, and 1991 and earned an NCAA Division I tournament spot in 1988. Godomsky's coaching career began at Trinity College, where she was an assistant field hockey and lacrosse coach. While at Trinity Godomsky earned a master's degree in history with a focus on the history of women's sports in the United States, Title IX, and gender equity. She was selected by the Japanese Lacrosse Association in 1996 to coach women's lacrosse in Japan. Godomsky also played in exhibition games against the Japanese World Cup and the Japanese College All-Star teams. Godomsky is also the assistant field hockey coach at Colby. phone 207-859-4933 David Venditti and Amy Bernatchez, Assistant Coaches David Venditti returns for his second season as assistant coach and Amy Bernatchez is in her first season with the Mules. Venditti was named the 2006 NESCAC Women's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year for leading Colby's team to a 15-8-1 record and a trip to the league semifinals. The Mules improved by three wins in Venditti's first year at Colby and then improved by eight wins this season. Venditti, a 1991 graduate of the University of Southern Maine, coached women's hockey and women's lacrosse at his alma mater before coming to Colby. Bernatchez will start her third season as Colby's head field hockey coach this fall. She led the Mules to a 9-7 record and a first-ever trip to the NESCAC semifinals during the 2004 season. She won three state titles in field hockey as a high school coach before coming to Colby. Bernatchez, a 1992 graduate of the University of Maine, is a personal trainer certified by the National Endurance and Strength Training Association.
