COLBY SPOILS BATES MEN'S SOCCER FINALE, 1-0

LEWISTON, Maine

After a tough defensive struggle for much of the game, the Colby College men's soccer team (6-6-2, 1-6-2 NESCAC) broke through the Bates College (6-7-1, 2-6-1 NESCAC) defense to end the Bobcats hopes of a berth in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tournament.

The White Mules scored the only goal of the game in the 77th minute, when sophomore Jamie Lue (Kingston, Jamaica) took a pass from junior midfielder Carl Tugberk (North Potomac, Md.) and beat Bates goalkeeper Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.) from 15 yards out. The Bobcats had the better of play for much of the afternoon, outshooting Colby, 16-4, but could not find the back of the net.

Colby senior goalkeeper Justin Amirault (Plymouth, Mass.) made eight saves as the White Mules picked up their first conference win of the season, while Spector had three saves in the losing effort.
