Men's Soccer back on winning track
Waterville, ME – The Colby men's soccer team defeated
the University of New England, 7-0, in non-conference action today. The University of New England suffered
its thirteenth loss of the season and is now 0-13 overall. The White Mules, with the victory, go
to 5-7 overall.
Colby came out extremely hard and notched the game winner
just 40 seconds into the game.
However, Colby was only able to score two goals in the first half. The second half was a different story,
as the White Mules scored five more times to seal a strong offensive victory
against an undermanned UNE team. The
White Mules were led by sophomore forward Mike Ungerer (Paxton, Mass.) and freshman
back Brian Kelly (Milford, Mass.) who both tallied two goals each. Junior midfielder Jamie Lue (Kingston,
Jamaica) earned the playmaker with three assists on the day. In goal for Colby senior captain Dave
Friedman (Avon, Conn.) had 5 saves in the game. UNE's goal keeper, Nate Montminy (Bar Harbor, ME) had 4
saves in the loss.
