Men's Soccer Ties Hamilton

10/24/98

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College White Mules and the Hamilton College Continentals battled to a 2-2 tie in a collegiate men's soccer game that featured four yellow cards and one red card on Saturday afternoon.

Matt Williams (Cape Elizabeth, Me./Cape Elizabeth) put Colby on the board as he knocked home a pass from Mark Melander (Bowdoinham, Me./Mt. Ararat) just under six minutes into the game. Hamilton tied it up, however, when Sam Jackson (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) scored on a free kick midway through the half.

Colby's Chris Fleming (Braintree, Mass./Archbishop Williams) gave the White Mules a brief lead at the start of the second half, but Nicholas Wilson (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored on a pass from Ted Comerford (Jamestown, R.I./Rocky Hill) to even things at 2-2 with 23 minutes remaining in regulation.

Justin Amirault (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) made eight saves for Colby (5-4-1), while Douglas Bellard made four saves for Hamilton (5-6-2).
