Women's Soccer at Colby

E.W. Millett Award - Given to one Male and one female who in his/her four years as an undergraduate has contributed the most to athletics at Colby.
The recipients are - Sara Lovitz (Fairfield, ME) Women's Soccer and Samuel Clark (Woolwich, ME.) Men's Basketball.
Sara is the daughter of Jeff and Cynthia Lovitz and is a Chemistry major with an Environmental concentration and she also holds a 3.64 GPA. Sara is a three time All New England Selection as a defender and a three time selection to the All-NESCAC Team. She was a captain for the 2000 White Mules and one the the best players to ever play women's soccer at Colby.

The Colby women's soccer team is looking to make its sixth post-season appearance in as many years. Led by co-captains, Katie Rowen '01 and Sara Lovitz '01, the team returns a talented core of players vying for a playoff berth in the inaugural NESCAC tournament.

The 2000 season marks the birth of the NESCAC Conference as a playing league and a seven team tournament will follow a complete, regular season, round-robin schedule. On offense, the team returns leading scorer, Christine O'Donnell '03 and forwards, Anne Hottle '01, Kate Liggio '03, and Lauren Gremelspacher '03. Playmakers, Carolyn Szum '01 and Lizzy Rice '02 return to lead the offense from the central midfield positions. Joining them in the midfield will be Katie Egan '02, Julie Brown '03, Colleen Lacey '03 Emily Dattwyler '03 and Stacey Thurston '03.

Four starters return from the backfield including two-time All New England selection Lovitz, sophomores Stephanie Hicks '03 and Katie Tibbetts '03 and sweeper, Katie Rowen. Alicia Ford '03 and Michelle Mancuso '03 are also experienced backs ready to make an impact defensively. Returning goaltenders, Abby Kussell '02 and Emily Posner '03 who split goaltending duties in 1999, will challenge for the starting position in 2000.
