Bowdoin Routs Colby, 6-0 Perencevich stays hot to lead Polar Bears

BRUNSWICK, Maine

Bowdoin College senior Molly Perencevich (Concord, N.H.) scored two goals - including the game-winner - and dished out an assist, helping the Polar Bear women's soccer team roll to a 6-0 rout of Colby on Saturday afternoon. Perencevich, who had a goal and two assists earlier in the week against Bates, wraps up the 2000 CBB title for the Polar Bears.

Perencevich gave Bowdoin (12-1-1, 7-1-1 NESCAC) all they would need in the first half as she scored both Polar Bear goals. Perencevich converted a great pass from sophomore Caroline Budney (Manlius, N.Y.) before ripping a high shot off a dish from Kim Bohlin (Winchester, Mass.) for a 2-0 lead at the break. Colby (7-5-0, 4-5-0) had its chances in the first half, out-shooting the Polar Bears, 7-6, in the opening frame.

In the second half, Bowdoin blew the game open as sophomore Shelly Chessie (Fredericton, N.B.) and junior Lyndsay Sennott (Boxford, Mass.) tallied unassisted goals in the first 20 minutes. First-year Christine Goss (Shrewsbury, Mass.) tallied her first collegiate goal off an assist from junior Erin Finn-Welch (Marblehead, Mass.) before rookie Hillary Smith (Denver, Colo.) netted her team-leading seventh goal, set up by Perencevich with five minutes remaining.

Senior Sarah Farmer (Vienna, Va.) made six saves to record the shutout - the 19th of her career, tying her for second on the all-time Bowdoin list. Sophomore Emily Posner (Southfield, Mich.) made four saves for Colby.
