Dick Bailey is entering his sixth year at the helm of the Colby White Mules softball team. During his previous five years he compiled an 80-67 record. In an effort to strengthen the program, Bailey continues to focus his attention on recruiting top student athletes.

Bailey has been coaching softball for the past 17 years, and during this time has compiled an impressive 326-186 record. He has won 20 or more games in nine of his 17 years of coaching. During his softball tenure Bailey has won numerous coaching awards and his teams have competed in many post-season events up to and including the 16 team 1994 NAIA National Tournament.

A native of Springfield, Mass., Bailey attended Saint Anselm College on a basketball scholarship and went on to receive MVP honors his senior year. He was subsequently inducted into the Saint Anselm Hall of Fame. Bailey holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's degree in international affairs from George Washington University. After 20 years of active military service Bailey retired from the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Meet the Captains

Seniors Kate Dalton of Amesbury, Mass., Kim Chadwick of Gardiner, Maine, and Marcy Wagner of Norton, Mass, will captain the 2002 Colby White Mules. For the past three years all three have consistently led the team in hitting. Dalton will be remembered for her mammoth home runs, Chadwick for her exceptional speed running down fly balls, and Wagner for her stellar play at the hot corner.
