Fort Myers, Fl.- The Colby College White Mules (0-1) picked up a tough loss in their season opener, but the pitching performance of the young Mules pitching staff was a positive aspect for Colby. Looking strong for Colby in her college debut Annette Caswell '05 (Bucksport, Maine), as she lasted for four innings. giving up 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out two and walking two. Picking up the loss for Colby in relief was Amy Lisavich '04 (Chelmsford, Mass.), as she gave up an unearned run that led to the Kalamazoo victory. Lisavich in two innings struck out two, gave up two hits and walked one. Also putting in time for Colby on the hill was Shannon Emerson '05 (Cumberland, Maine) as she pitched the seventh inning, giving up one hit and striking out one. Offense was hard to come by for the Mules, with their lone run coming when Meaghan Shea '04 (Worcester, Mass.) singled and was driven in on an RBI single from Kim Chadwick '02 (Gardiner, Maine). Shea was an offensive star for Colby on the day with 2 hits and a run scored, and another bright spot for Colby was when Cara Pollard '05 (Bucksport, Maine) doubled in her first collegiate at bat.
