Waterville, Maine- The Colby College White Mules (12-9-2) won the first contest 4-1 in a doubleheader versus CBB rival Bates College Bobcats (5-24), and then picked up the sweep by pulling out a hard fought pitching duel in the second game 1-0. The first game was highlighted by a strong pitching effort from Annette Caswell '03 , who picked up the win pitching 7 innings, allowing 5 hits, while striking out five for no earned runs. Ginger Walsh '03 took the loss for the Bobcats, giving up one earned run on five hits in three and two-thirds innings. Offensively Colby was led by Kate Hurd '05 and Meaghan Shea '04 who each had two hits, and Kim Chadwick '02 who had the lone RBI for the Mules. For Bates Whiting '03, Flaherty '03, Foye '05, Dyson '04 and Tardiff '03 had one hit apiece. In the second game it was a pitchers duel between Toni-Lynn Robbins '05 and Cami Dyson. In a losing effort, Dyson pitched six innings, allowing 7 hits, 0 earned runs and striking out four. She was outdone though by Robbins who shined in all seven innings, limiting the Bobcat line-up to 3 hits and one walk with 3 strikeouts. Kim Chadwick batted 1-3 and scored the games only run, and Shannon Emerson '03 went 2-3 with a stolen base. The Bates offense could ony muster a double apiece from Mayock '05 and Levine '04, and were not able to capitalize on the extra-base hits.
