Colby Topples Terriers 7-3
Colby vs Thomas College Terriers
April 30, 2002
Waterville, Maine
Waterville, Maine - Toni-Lynn Robbins '05 (Appleton, Maine) was stellar on the hill once again, leading the Colby College White Mules (13-12-2) over the Thomas College Terriers 7-3 at Crafts Field. Robbins pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Mules and limited the Terriers to all singles and three runs. Shannon Emerson '05 (West Friendship, Md.) pitched the final inning and a third for Colby. The Mules got two hits apiece from Kim Chadwick '02 (Gardiner, Maine) and Meaghan Shea '04 (Worcester, Mass.), with Shea picking up an RBI. Also driving in a run for Colby was Kate Dalton '02 (Amesbury, Mass.) and Michaelyn Bortolotti '05 (Hanover, N.H.). The defensive play of the game came with one out in the second inning, when a Thomas batter smashed a groundball that seemed destined for the outfield, but Kate Hurd '05 (Cumberland, Maine) dove and snatched the hit away from the Terrier batter, throwing the ball to Bortolotti for the second out of the inning. Colby next plays versus U-Maine Orono tomorrow night on the road 4:30 PM. This was the last regular season game of the year at home for Colby, with the Alumni Game on Sat. May 11th the last contest at Crafts Field.
