Colby vs. Clark University (January 13, 2001) Senior tri-captain, Jess Alex, led the White Mules to victory with an NCAA Championship qualifying performance on the 3 Meter Board. Her score of 271.5 also eclipsed the previous school record by over 40 points. Steve Feldman '01 also continued his excellence on the boards surpassing the NCAA qualifier total for the second time this season on the 1 Meter Board. Colby's women dominated the pool winning 9 of 13 events. The women started the meet with a first, second, and third sweep of the 400 Medley Relay which was won by Kristan Jiggetts '04, Laura Collins '03, Amy Millett '01 and Jess Knight '02 in a time of 4:14.75. Michelle Cook '01 posted her best meet performance in two years winning the 200 Free and 200 Fly. Other event winners included Mindy Williams (1650), Sarah Jasinski '04 (50 Free), Blake Hamill '02 (200 IM), Alex (1 & 3 Meter) and Carolyn Plant '04 (200 Back). Colby's men also had a great day winning 8 of 13 events. Steve Feldman '01 won both the 1 & 3 meter boards remaining unbeaten in the 3 meter event. Nick Walendziak also continued his impressive first season with Colby winning the 100 and 200 Freestyle events. Other individual winners included Jonathan Eck '03 (200 IM), Ben Schreiner '01 (50 Free), and Reid Swayze '04 (200 Fly). Next weekend Colby will recognize their seniors when they host Bates College at the Alfond Pool 1:00pm.
Colby vs. Norwich University (January 7, 2001) The White Mules set three school records and six pool records enroute to a men's and women's victory over Norwich University. The women, who won 14 of 16 events, were paced by Jess Alex '01 and Carolyn Plant '04. Alex won both diving events, setting a Colby College record in the 10 dive 1 Meter competition. Plant won the 200 Free, 200 Back and 200 IM setting pool records in all three events as well. Colby's 200 Free Relay (Jess Knight '02, Sarah Jasinski '04, Kristan Jiggetts '04, Amy Millett '01) set a pool record with a time of 1:43.06. In addition, Knight broke Colby's Record in the 50 Back leading off the 200 Medley Relay with a time 29.27. Other individual winners included Mindy Williams '02 (1000 & 500), Kristan Jiggetts (100 Back) Michelle Cook '04 (200 Fly), Knight (100 Free), and Millett (100 Fly). The Colby Men recorded their first victory of the season by winning 12 of 16 events. Nick Walendziak '04 and Jonathan Eck '03 led the team with four victories each. Walendziak won the 100 Free, 100 Breast, and 100 Fly while Eck was victorious in the 200 Free, 200 Breast and 200 IM, Both men led the 200 Medley Relay to victory with Kearney Shanahan '04 and Al Goodman '03. Steve Feldman '01 continued to shine on the boards winning both 1 Meter Events and breaking his own 11 Dive 1 Meter School Record. Other individual winners included Goodman (100 & 200 Back) and Shanahan (200 Fly). The team honored Walendziak, Alex and Plant as Performer's Of The Meet for their combined efforts at both the Middlebury and Norwich Meets. Both teams travel to Worcester, MA next Saturday to take on Clark University.
Colby vs. Middlebury College (January 6, 2001) On January 6, 2001 the Men's & Women's Swimming Team traveled to Vermont to compete against fellow NESCAC member Middlebury College. While the Mules fell short of victory in both the men's and women's meets, the team had some great performances on the individual level. Nick Walendziak '04 was a tripple winner for the mules posting victories in the 50 Free, 100 Free and 50 Fly. Jonathan Eck '03 won the 200 IM and 100 Breast while Steve Feldman '01 was victorious on the 3 Meter Board. Colby's women were led by Carolyn Plant '04 who won both the 200 IM and the 400 IM. Plant's time in the 400 IM (4:41.62) was a provisional NCAA National qualifying time and a pool record. Amy Millett '01 won the 50 Fly for the Mules. Colby will compete against Norwich University at 12:00pm on January 7, 2001. |
