Jim Begin
Co-Interim Head Coach

Jim Begin, a Colby graduate, is the co-interim head coach for the men and women's tennis programs for the 2006 fall season.

Begin was born in Waterville and graduated from Waterville High School. He attended Colby from 1963 to 1967 and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He continued his non-degree education at the Univeristy of Maine-Orono and then at the Solomon Institute of Engineering in Atlanta.

Begin has been a tennis teaching professional at Champions Fitness Center in Waterville for the past 11 years. He has been the head coach of the boys tennis team at Waterville High School since 1995. Begin also has been a volunteer assistant at Colby for seven years.

Besides his coaching, Begin also is the director of the Maine Tennis Academy. He has earned numerous coaching awards and helped Waterville win a Class A state title in 1998.

Begin is still an active player and participate in seniors tourneys. He has won more than 150 regional, state and local singles and doubles tournaments over the years.

Sakhi Khan, who has more than 30 years of squash experience, is entering his sixth season as head coach of the Colby men's and women's squash programs.

Khan has been a four-time All-American varsity squash player and graduated from Tufts University in 1985. As a college player Khan reached the National Collegiate Squash Championships finals and won the Massachusetts State Championship three times.

He also competed on the World Professional Tour for seven years. As a professional Khan won the World Teaching Professional Championships twice. He is a fourth generation member of the Khan Squash Dynasty.
