Michael Morgan Michael Morgan became head coach of the Colby men's and women's tennis teams in the fall of 2003. He previously served as head coach of men's tennis at Claremont McKenna/Harvey Mudd/Scripps Colleges, beginning in 2000. In 2002-03 the Stags were ranked ninth in the country in NCAA Division III, and Morgan was named the 2003 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Western Region Coach of the Year. The Colby women's tennis team finished 8-7 in 2002-03, and in 2003-04 the team returned first singles player Sara Hughes '05, an All-American doubles player and the Co-NESCAC Player of the Year. ñI see tremendous potential here at Colby,î Morgan said. ñColby has probably the most competitive Division III conference in the country for tennis, a beautiful campus, and an established academic reputation.î Morgan led Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to an 8-0 record and the championship in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Besides taking his team to a number nine ranking in 2002-03, Morgan was instrumental in helping a Stags doubles team win a national title in 2002. The Stags made the NCAA Tournament in all three of Morgan's years at the school. Morgan was an assistant men's tennis coach at the University of Notre Dame from 1997 to 2000 and at the College of William & Mary during the 1996-97 academic year. He was a 2000 ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year while at Notre Dame. Morgan is a 1996 graduate of St. Mary's College (Calif.), an NCAA Division I school. He earned an athletic scholarship every year from his sophomore year on and played both singles and doubles. phone 207-859-4945
Sakhi Khan, who has more than 25 years of squash experience, is entering his third season as head coach of the Colby men's and women's squash programs. Khan has been a four-time All-American varsity squash player and graduated from Tufts University in 1985. As a college player Khan reached the National Collegiate Squash Championships finals and won the Massachusetts State Championship three times. He also competed on the World Professional Tour for seven years. As a professional Khan won the World Teaching Professional Championships twice. He is a fourth generation member of the Khan Squash Dynasty.
