Hughes also won Colby’s Patty Valavanis Award and earned the NESCAC Senior Sportswoman of the Year in women’s tennis. Two of the year’s team highlights in 2004-05 included two 5-4 victories with junior Anna Erdheim clinching both of the wins in third sets against Trinity and MIT.
Colby’s playing schedule is a rigorous one with four or five dual matches and two tournaments in the fall alone. In the past, spring play has included a spring break cross-regional trip with at least four matches, five dual matches, the NESCAC conference championship, and the NCAA team and individual tournaments.
