2006-07 Season Preview
In the 2006 spring season Allison Dunn ’07 went to the NCAA Division III Tournament for singles play for the first time. Previously she earned the right to play at the national tourney in doubles action and earned All-America honors during her sophomore season.
Dunn, with a 68-38 overall record in singles and doubles play, has an outside chance at 100 career victories. As a sophomore she had a 28-13 record, but went 17-8 this past season after missing the fall season while studying abroad.
Tracy Nale ’07 also returns after playing second singles during the spring season and first singles in the fall while Dunn was studying abroad. Nale led the team in total wins with 21.
Also returning is Nicole Veilleux ’09, who earned some key victories among her 10 wins at fifth and sixth singles. Veilleux was the only Colby player to go 2-0 for the day in a 5-4 victory over rival Bates. She also had a key singles win in a 5-4 win over NESCAC rival Trinity.
Colby’s playing schedule is a rigorous one, with many individual tournaments in the fall and a few dual matches. Spring play typically includes a spring break cross-regional trip with at least four matches, five dual matches, the NESCAC conference championship, and the NCAA team and individual tournaments.
