Julie Wienski Julie Wienski, Head Coach

Entering her first year at Colby, Julie Wienski arrives with extensive coaching and playing experience. Prior to joining the Colby faculty, she was assistant professor of physical education and head women's tennis coach at Wellesley College. She lead her team to NEWMAC Conference and Seven Sister's Championship victories and an overall record of 17-2 last year. Prior to her coaching and teaching responsibilities at Wellesley, she was an assistant tennis coach for the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (1997-98), and assistant tennis and squash coach at Smith College (1996-97). While at Smith, Wienski was also an instructor of tennis, squash, and badmiton in the Department of Exercise and Sport Studies.

Wienski received an M.S. degree in Exercise and Sport Studies/Coaching ('98) as well as her A.B. in geology ('94) from Smith College. As an undergraduate, she competed as a two-sport varsity athlete in tennis and squash. As a tennis player, she was named to the 1993 NEW 8 All-Conference Team, 1994 Sisters All-Tournament Team, and was a 1994 NCAA Division III All-American.

Wienski, from Stanford, CT, worked as a field geologist specializing in groundwater hydrology for GeoTrans, Inc. (Sterling, VA) before pursuing her coaching career.
