In men's indoor track, senior thrower Jason Foster set a new school record in the weight throw with a toss of 61 feet, placing seventh and earning All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Foster broke his old school record by nearly three feet with the toss. Foster had top-five finishes in two New England meets for head coach Todd Coffin '83. A throw of 58-1.25 took fourth place in the weight throw at the Open New England Championships and set a Colby record that he beat at the nationals. He also placed third in the event at the New England Division III Championships.

Head coach Todd Coffin loses some key athletes to graduation, but the Mules will still have a lot of talent in 2005-06.

Jason Foster will once again be strong in the weight throw and hammer throw, while Ian London returns in the 800 and 1,500 meters.

Colby will be tough in the distance races with Dan Vassallo and in the hurdles with Madison Gouzie. Mike Aquino will go in the pole vault and Dave Civitello will throw the discus.

In the October 31, 1994, Sports Illustrated article, "Pure and Simple," Doug Looney described NESCAC athletes as competing on their chosen teams for one reason–love of the sport. Colby students and the members of our fellow conference schools maintain a wonderful balance of academic pursuits and athletic achievements.

Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Florida, Atlanta, San Diego, and Claremont, Calif., all have been spring break destinations of Colby's track and field team.
