Deb Aitken, Head CoachHead coach Deb Aitken, in her 21st year at Colby, teams up with five dedicated and knowledgeable individuals to provide every athlete with the direction and technical advice for success. Aitken brings more than 25 years of collegiate coaching experience to Mayflower Hill. In her tenure, the Skowhegan, Maine, native has led the women's program to Maine and New England crowns. Aitken heads up the middle distance/distance runners and the horizontal jumpers and multi-event athletes. phone 207-859-4905 Dan Camannhas coached Colby's men's and women's hammer and discus throwers for 16 years. Colby's throwers have earned great respect in the New England region for their consistent success, including eight All-America honors. Dick Whatley, who coached All-America shot putters and javelin throwers as head coach at Ursinus College (Pa.), retired, moved to Maine, and joined our coaching staff in 1993. Dick has seen his athletes gain NESCAC, New England Division III, ECAC, and national rankings in both shot put and javelin. Connie Beal '03 was Coach Whately's first All-America shot putter at Colby. Bill Lund, an assistant football coach at Colby and former discus thrower, joined the staff in 2000 to become Colby's pole vault coach. Lund has taken his vaulters to new school records (11'7") and national qualifying marks. Coach Lund brings coaching experience and a great deal of enthusiasm and knowledge to the event. Jared Beers '01,joined our staff as the sprints and hurdles coach in 2004 and has seen our sprinters and hurdlers witness great improvements and earn NESCAC and All-New England Division III honors.Head men's coach, Todd Coffin '83, in his third year on Mayflower Hill as the men's track and field head coach, will lead the men and women in the high jump.
