2006 Season Recap
Jason Foster finished his career in style by earning All-America honors by placing fourth in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division III Championship meet in late May.
Foster had earned All-America honors during the indoor track season in the 35-pound weight throw. He also was second in the hammer throw at the New England Division III Championships and at the NESCAC Championships.
Madison Gouzie was third in the 400 hurdles and Jeff Alden placed fourth in the 3,000 steeplechase at the New England Division III meet. Dan Vassallo added a second in the 10,000 meters at the NESCAC meet.
2006 Season Preview
The 2006 year looks to be another strong season for the Mules with the return of event leaders and the addition to the roster of several impressive first-year track athletes. A summary of Colby's 2004-2005 event leaders is highlighted below.

New arrivals at Colby will include, among others:
- Menga Hinga (Medfield High, Mass.), 3rd place in Massachusetts State 600m Championships (Div. IV), best 2005 mark of 1:25.71;
- Jared Luther (Barrington High, R.I.), javelin throw of 165'11"; also runs high hurdles and long sprints;
- Jim Hurder (Siegel High School, Tenn.) ran 4:28.86 in the 1,600 in the spring of 2005 and was 30th in the 2004 Tennessee State Cross-Country Championships, running 16:26;
- Matt Briggs (Concord-Carlisle High, Mass.) finished 40th in Massachusetts State Cross-Country Championships (Division I), running 15:18 for 2.9 miles.
In the October 31, 1994, Sports Illustrated article 'Pure and Simple,' Doug Looney described NESCAC athletes as competing on their chosen teams for one reason'love of the sport. Colby students and the members of our fellow conference schools maintain a wonderful balance of academic pursuits and athletic achievements.
Spring break destinations for Colby's track and field team have included Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Florida, Atlanta, San Diego, and Claremont, Calif. Come join us!
