Colby College junior Amanda Cuiffo (Waban, Ma) tallied match highs in kills and digs to lead the visiting White Mule volleyball team to a 15-7, 15-3, 15-6 victory over Bowdoin College on Wednesday evening. Cuiffo struck for 11 kills to lead the Colby (6-4) attack while also posting 13 digs.

In the first game, Colby raced out to a 5-0 lead behind the serving of Kimberly Prescott (04, Buena Park, Ca), but Bowdoin (3-5) rallied to cut the deficit to 5-3 on a Jamie Bennett (Marlboro, Ma) service ace. The White Mules responded with a 10-4 run, sparked by two kills from Brook McNally (03, Sudbury, Ma) for the 15-7 win.

A Bennett kill early in the second game gave Bowdoin a 3-1 advantage but the White Mules responded, using eight Polar Bear errors to rattle off a 14-0 run and take the second frame, 15-3. The third game started with solid play by both sides and the two teams were knotted at 3-3 on a White Mule error. From that point on, Colby used the stellar play of Cuiffo to complete the sweep with a 15-6 victory.

Helping the Colby effort was Prescott with 35 assists and Alyssa Henley (04, Spokane, Wa) with 11 kills. Jess Reuben (Houston, Tx) led the Polar Bear cause with five kills while Bennett, Rebecca Geehr (Pittsfield, Ma) and Michelle Platt (Savanah, Ga) added three kills. Shanna Mitchell (Freeport, Me) added 14 assists for the Polar Bears.

The White Mules will travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts on Friday and Saturday September 22 and 23 to compete in the MIT Invitational.
