Candice and Mark Parent are entering their seventh season with the Colby volleyball program. The program has been varsity status for nine years, but over the past five years, the program has been elevated and is now competitive with the top schools in New England. In December 1999, Candice was selected as the female recipient of the Rick Pierce Award, which is based on sportsmanship, competitiveness, and volunteerism. In 1997, their colleagues selected Mark and Candice as the Maine State Coaches of the Year. Both coaches continue to play volleyball at the highest level tournaments in New England through the Yankee Volleyball Association and they annually participate in the USA Volleyball Nationals. This past May, Mark's team won a bronze medal at the USA Volleyball Nationals in Milwaukee, WI in the "AA" Division, the highest finish ever by a New England team at that level. This past February they were blessed with the birth of their first daughter, Emily Kathryn.
